Senior Transport Planner

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Transport Planner to take a leading role in delivering transport planning services across a diverse portfolio of development projects. This position offers responsibility for managing projects, mentoring junior staff, and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.

You will play a key role in shaping sustainable transport strategies, influencing site layouts, and securing planning approvals through technically robust and commercially aware advice.

The Role

As a Senior Transport Planner, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the preparation and review of Transport Assessments and Statements

  • Preparing and managing Travel Plans, including negotiation with Local Authorities

  • Managing site feasibility studies and advising on highways, access, flooding and infrastructure constraints

  • Designing new site access arrangements and overseeing swept path analysis

  • Delivering Healthy Streets Assessments in accordance with London Plan requirements (where applicable)

  • Supporting or leading LCWIP development, including stakeholder engagement, scheme prioritisation and reporting

  • Managing project programmes, budgets and client relationships

  • Reviewing technical work and mentoring junior team members

  • Engaging with Local Planning and Highway Authorities to secure planning approvals

What We're Looking For

  • Strong consultancy experience delivering development-focused transport planning projects

  • Demonstrable experience preparing and reviewing Transport Assessments and Travel Plans

  • Sound understanding of UK planning policy and highway design standards

  • Experience liaising and negotiating with Local Authorities

  • Competence with key software (e.g. TRICS, TEMPro, Junctions, AutoCAD, GIS)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Degree in a relevant discipline

  • Chartered or working towards Chartership (CIHT, TPS or equivalent)
