A well-established and financially robust civil engineering contractor is expanding its commercial team and seeks an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead on key infrastructure and rail projects.
This is a high-visibility role with commercial ownership from pre-contract through to final account, working closely with project leadership and senior stakeholders.
Role Overview
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the commercial delivery of multiple construction and infrastructure projects. You'll be accountable for all aspects of cost control, contract administration and commercial strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Lead commercial management and reporting on complex civil engineering programmes
Manage contract administration including valuations, variations, claims and accounts
Produce accurate cost forecasts, cashflows and commercial reports
Mentor and support junior QS staff on the team
Identify, quantify and mitigate commercial risk
Build strong relationships with clients, supply chain and internal project teams
Drive continuous improvement of commercial processes
Experience & Skills
We're looking for a candidate with a strong commercial track record in civil engineering or infrastructure.
Essential
Degree/HND/HNC in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or equivalent
Substantial experience as a Senior/Lead Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering, infrastructure energy or rail
Excellent contract knowledge (JCT/NEC etc) and commercial awareness
Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills
Experience mentoring junior commercial staff
Desirable
Working towards or achieved chartered status (e.g., RICS / CICES)
