Senior Mechanical Engineer - London
I'm working with a well-established, independent building services consultancy that is continuing to expand its London presence, driven by a strong pipeline of work across multiple sectors.
They're now looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take ownership of key projects and play a central role in managing client relationships, delivering technically strong designs, and supporting the ongoing growth of the business.
This opportunity would suit an ambitious engineer who enjoys both the technical and commercial side of consultancy and is keen to step into a more influential, client-facing position.

The Opportunity

You'll be joining a collaborative and forward-thinking team where you'll have real responsibility and visibility across projects, alongside direct access to senior leadership.
In this role, you will:

  • Lead mechanical design across projects from feasibility through to construction
  • Take ownership of key client relationships and act as a main point of contact
  • Contribute to business development activities, including identifying opportunities and supporting tenders
  • Oversee project delivery to ensure quality, profitability and alignment with client briefs
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders including architects, contractors and consultants
  • Attend and lead client and design team meetings
  • Carry out site inspections and provide feedback to the wider design team
  • Work across a variety of sectors including residential, commercial and mixed-use developments

What They're Looking For

  • 4+ years' experience within a UK Building Services Consultancy
  • Strong mechanical design background across building projects
  • Experience managing projects and dealing directly with clients
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Working towards Chartership (CIBSE or IMechE preferred)
  • Good understanding of wider MEP disciplines, including electrical, sustainability and public health
  • Familiarity with British Standards, regulations and codes of practice
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in business development
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety and environmental policies

Why This Role?

  • Opportunity to take on a client-facing, project-leading role
  • Clear progression pathway within a growing London team
  • Exposure to both technical delivery and business development
  • Supportive, collaborative environment with strong leadership
  • Strong emphasis on work-life balance
  • Chance to play a key role in shaping projects and client relationships

If you're looking to step into a role where you can influence projects, build client relationships, and be part of a growing consultancy with a strong reputation, this is a great opportunity to explore.
