Senior Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) - London
Construction Consultancy
Are you a Chartered Quantity Surveyor looking to break free from the conventional consultancy environment? My client, a boutique construction consultancy in the heart of London, is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team.
This isn't your typical QS role where you'll be lost in the machinery of a corporate giant. Here, your commercial acumen and technical expertise will have genuine impact on prestigious London projects, with the opportunity to shape the direction of both projects and the practice itself.
About the Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll work directly with partners and clients across a diverse portfolio spanning commercial, high-end residential, and heritage sectors. This hands-on position offers:
- Direct client contact from day one - no layers of management between you and key decisions
- Project leadership on complex London schemes ranging from £5M to £50M
- Opportunity to mentor junior team members while continuing your own professional development
- A balanced approach to traditional QS services and more innovative commercial management techniques
The Ideal Candidate
- MRICS qualified with 2+ years' post-qualification experience
- Strong track record in cost planning, procurement, and contract administration
- Experience working within London's unique construction landscape
- Commercial mindset with the ability to identify value engineering opportunities
- Excellent communication skills - equally comfortable discussing technical details with contractors or strategic decisions with developers
What Sets This Opportunity Apart
This consultancy deliberately maintains a lean structure to ensure their team members gain broad experience rather than narrow specialization. You'll be exposed to the full project lifecycle and have the autonomy to develop client relationships that many larger firms reserve for director level.
With a commitment to quality over quantity, you won't be juggling an unmanageable portfolio of projects. Instead, you'll have the time and support to deliver genuinely valuable consultancy services.
The practice values fresh thinking and encourages team members to challenge conventional approaches to quantity surveying - making this an ideal environment for a chartered professional who wants to shape their career rather than simply progress through predetermined grades.
