Civil Design Engineer

Location: London
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000
Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Working Pattern: Hybrid

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Civil Design Engineer to join the growing London team of a highly respected, employee-owned engineering consultancy with a long-established reputation across the UK.

This is a fantastic role for an engineer who wants exposure to a broad and genuinely varied civil engineering workload - combining civils around structures with high-profile standalone infrastructure and development-led civils projects.

The Opportunity

You'll join a collaborative civils and structures environment where civil engineers work closely alongside structural teams, architects and wider multidisciplinary specialists to deliver practical, sustainable and technically strong solutions.

The role offers exposure to projects ranging from building-related civils and below-ground infrastructure around structural schemes through to broader highways, drainage and external works packages on significant urban developments.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to strengthen their technical design capability within a consultancy known for:

  • A strong reputation for civil and structural engineering excellence

  • A varied portfolio of projects across the built environment

  • A people-first, collaborative culture

  • Long-term investment in staff development and progression

  • A growing London team with a healthy pipeline of work

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver civil engineering design for a range of development and infrastructure projects

  • Support the design of roads, drainage and external works associated with structural and building-led schemes

  • Produce surface water and foul drainage strategies and detailed drainage design

  • Assist with S278 / S38 highway design packages and approvals processes

  • Prepare and review technical drawings, calculations and reports

  • Coordinate with structural engineers, architects, contractors and wider project teams

  • Contribute to project delivery from feasibility and planning through to detailed design

  • Support sustainable design solutions, including SuDS and practical low-carbon infrastructure approaches

  • Use software such as Civil 3D, Causeway Flow (or equivalent), and AutoCAD

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline

  • A few years of experience within a UK consultancy environment

  • Solid experience in drainage and infrastructure design

  • Exposure to building-related civils, highways and external works

  • Working knowledge of S278 / S38 processes

  • A proactive, collaborative approach and desire to continue developing technically

  • Ambition to progress toward Chartership (support available)

Why Apply?

  • Join a well-established, award-recognised consultancy with a strong market reputation

  • Be part of a growing London civils team with a healthy and varied workload

  • Work on both civils around structures and high-profile development civils projects

  • Employee-owned business where people have a genuine voice in the future of the company

  • Strong focus on training, mentoring and structured professional development

  • Hybrid working and a collaborative office culture

  • Opportunity to build long-term progression within a highly respected practice

This is an excellent opportunity for a Civil Design Engineer who wants variety, technical development and the chance to work within a supportive, high-quality engineering environment on some of the most interesting projects in London and beyond.
