Civil Design Engineer

Location: Hertfordshire (Hybrid Working Available)

Salary: Up to £45,000 + Excellent Benefits

The successful candidate will join a forward-thinking consultancy with a healthy project pipeline across sectors including residential, retail, distribution, and technology. You'll play a key role in designing and delivering innovative, sustainable infrastructure solutions across the UK.


The Role

As a Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for contributing to the design and delivery of civil infrastructure projects from concept through to completion. You'll utilise your technical knowledge and creative problem-solving skills to produce high-quality engineering designs, working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing detailed designs and calculations for highways, drainage, and site infrastructure projects.

  • Preparing Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy Reports.

  • Developing design drawings using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage (or InfoDrainage), and Vehicle Tracking.

  • Delivering design packages and technical documentation for small to medium-sized projects.

  • Ensuring compliance with relevant design standards, planning policy, and local authority requirements.

  • Collaborating with colleagues across disciplines to deliver coordinated, innovative, and practical design solutions.

  • Providing input to due diligence, feasibility, and pre-development engineering work.

  • Managing workloads to meet project deadlines and maintain quality standards.


About You

We're looking for a capable and motivated engineer with a passion for civil design and a desire to grow professionally within a supportive environment.
Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Ideally 3-6 years' experience in a civil infrastructure design consultancy.

  • Working towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and drainage design software (MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage).

  • Knowledge of BIM workflows and multidisciplinary coordination.

  • Experience preparing and reviewing technical drawings, calculations, and reports.

  • Familiarity with RIBA work stages or Eurocodes (advantageous).

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.

  • A proactive, collaborative, and detail-oriented approach to design.
