We're working with a well-established UK civil engineering contractor that's growing its pre-construction team. As part of that growth, they're looking to appoint a Junior / Assistant Estimator to support a busy pipeline of infrastructure and earthworks projects.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their estimating career who wants structured development and exposure to the full tender lifecycle. You'll work alongside experienced Estimators and Commercial Managers, gaining hands-on experience in building cost plans and supporting competitive bids.
You'll be involved in:
Assisting with take-offs and preparing cost build-ups for labour, plant, materials and subcontract packages
Reviewing drawings, specifications and works information to understand project scope
Obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations
Supporting the preparation and submission of tender documentation
Maintaining pricing databases and helping improve internal estimating processes
About You
1-3 years' experience in estimating or a commercial role within civil engineering, infrastructure or groundworks (placements considered)
A relevant qualification (or working towards one) in civil engineering, quantity surveying or construction management
Strong numerical and analytical skills with good attention to detail
Confident using Microsoft Excel; exposure to estimating software is beneficial
Keen to develop technically and commercially within a supportive team environment
This is a genuine development role with clear progression into a fully-fledged Estimator position.
