Senior Quantity Surveyor - Cost Management
Location: Farringdon, London (Hybrid - minimum 3 days in the office)
An expanding, dynamic cost management consultancy is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team in Farringdon. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, commercially minded professional to work across both private developments and public sector projects, ranging from £1m to £350m in value.
The successful candidate will be confident, driven, and eager to make a significant impact in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver best-practice cost and commercial management for allocated projects or as part of a larger programme.
Manage commercial resources throughout the project lifecycle to achieve programme and budget targets.
Identify and resolve client needs, issues, and demands promptly, while managing stakeholder expectations around commissioning and procurement.
Continuously monitor and manage project costs, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
Proactively identify risks from pre-contract through to completion, implementing robust risk management measures.
Provide clear leadership to project teams, including designers, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring timely decision-making and communication.
Implement and follow established commercial processes, with a focus on continuous improvement and maximising profitability.
Maintain transparent reporting structures, monitoring resources and costs to achieve agreed outcomes.
Protect the business's position through a thorough understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance, and legal frameworks.
Support your own professional development while mentoring junior commercial staff.
Assist with the administration of key business processes, including document and data management systems.
Qualifications
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or related field.
MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) preferred, or membership with other recognised bodies (e.g. CIOB).
Experience
Minimum 5 years' experience, ideally with RICS qualification (or working towards it).
Proven track record delivering residential and/or mixed-use projects is desirable.
Extensive experience in consultancy environments, working across a variety of sectors.
Skills
Demonstrated expertise in cost management from feasibility through to post-contract delivery.
Strong understanding of Value Engineering and Risk Management.
Proficiency with JCT standard forms of contract.
Excellent client-facing, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
Ability to generate and develop new business opportunities.
