Senior Quantity Surveyor (Cost Management)
Location: London (Farringdon)
Salary: £60,000 - £75,000 (depending on experience)
We are seeking a confident and commercially driven Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a dynamic and growing construction consultancy based in London. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-value private and public sector projects ranging from £1m to £350m, while developing your career in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide best-practice cost and commercial support on projects or as part of a wider programme team
Manage the commercial aspects of projects throughout the lifecycle to ensure delivery against programme and budget
Proactively identify client needs, resolve issues, and manage stakeholder expectations
Oversee continuous cost monitoring and reporting, ensuring information is accurate and timely
Identify and manage business risks, ensuring contingency plans are in place
Lead coordination with designers, contractors, and suppliers to maintain project momentum
Implement robust commercial processes and strive for continuous improvement
Maintain open and transparent reporting structures to monitor resources and cost against targets
Protect commercial and legal interests through deep understanding of contracts and insurance processes
Mentor junior commercial team members and contribute to wider team development
Support internal process management, including document storage and knowledge systems
About You
Qualifications
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or related field
MRICS qualified or working towards chartered status
CIOB membership also considered
Experience
Minimum 5 years' experience (ideally post-qualification)
Strong background in consultancy with experience in multiple sectors
Residential project experience is highly desirable
Skills
Proven track record in cost planning, feasibility studies, and post-contract services
Comprehensive knowledge of JCT contracts and value/risk management techniques
Excellent client-facing and communication skills
Ability to manage stakeholders and influence outcomes
Self-motivated, detail-focused, and commercially astute
Able to support business development and client engagement
