I'm working with a leading UK engineering consultancy that's looking to appoint an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing team in Edinburgh. About the Role
As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you'll play a key technical role in the design, analysis, and delivery of geotechnical solutions across multidisciplinary projects. You'll work closely with clients and internal teams to deliver high-quality outcomes, while mentoring junior staff and contributing to the continued success and development of the team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and manipulate geotechnical data from site investigations for a variety of projects.

  • Prepare ground models and define geotechnical design parameters.

  • Undertake and review modelling and geotechnical analysis, including pile design, settlement assessment, and slope stability.

  • Produce technical reports and design documentation in line with relevant standards.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to graduate and junior engineers.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated project delivery.

  • Support senior staff with bids, proposals, and wider business development activities.


Qualifications / Experience

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Engineering Geology (MSc in Geotechnical Engineering advantageous).

  • Working towards or achieved Chartered Membership of the ICE or Geological Society (CEng or CGeol).

  • Demonstrable experience in the design and delivery of geotechnical projects across multiple sectors.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with practical site experience.

  • Proficient in geotechnical modelling and design software such as Holebase, Slide, Settle3D, Wallap, or similar.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines.

  • Flexible, motivated, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
