Senior Civil Engineer (Roads) - Edinburgh

I'm working with a leading, privately owned UK consultancy that's looking to appoint a Senior Civil Engineer (Roads) to join their growing team in Edinburgh. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in major infrastructure, highway, and energy schemes across the UK - working within a multidisciplinary team that delivers innovative and sustainable engineering solutions.
The Role
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you'll play a key role in the design and delivery of complex road and infrastructure projects. You'll also mentor junior team members and contribute to the ongoing development of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and develop conceptual and detailed designs for highways, infrastructure, and energy projects
Manage small project teams, ensuring deliverables meet quality, programme, and budget expectations
Provide technical input and governance across design stages
Liaise with clients, local authorities, and key stakeholders (e.g. Transport Scotland, SEPA, NatureScot)
Attend design and site meetings to support project progress
About You
Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
Working towards Chartered status (ICE, CIHT, or equivalent)
Strong understanding of DMRB standards and specifications
Experience with Civils 3D, InfoDrain, or PDS (signs/lines)
Background delivering highways or infrastructure projects for public or private sector clients
Excellent communication and report-writing skills
Collaborative, proactive, and confident taking ownership of design delivery
