Location: Hertfordshire (Hybrid Working Available)
Salary: Up to £55,000 + Excellent Benefits
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join a leading, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy based in Hertfordshire. The successful candidate will be joining a forward-thinking consultancy with a healthy project pipeline across sectors including residential, commercial, distribution, and technology, including data centres. You'll play a key role in designing and delivering innovative, sustainable infrastructure solutions across the UK.

The Role


As a Senior Civil Engineer, you'll be responsible for leading and managing the design of civil infrastructure projects from concept through to completion. You'll take technical ownership of schemes and support the wider team in delivering high-quality, efficient, and compliant design solutions.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the design and coordination of highways, drainage, and infrastructure projects

  • Producing detailed designs, calculations, and technical drawings

  • Preparing Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy Reports

  • Managing budgets, programmes, and project delivery

  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers

  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams

  • Contributing to fee proposals and commercial management

About You


We're looking for a capable and confident engineer who can combine technical expertise with leadership and client-facing skills.
Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

  • Around 6-10 years' experience in civil infrastructure design within a consultancy environment

  • Ideally Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or working towards Chartership

  • Strong understanding of S278, S38, S104, and S106 agreements

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage (or InfoDrainage), and Vehicle Tracking

  • Experience producing and checking reports, drawings, and calculations

  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and tools such as Revit, Navisworks, or Infraworks (advantageous)

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and team leadership skills

  • Commercial awareness and client relationship management experience
