Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to take full commercial responsibility on a major civil engineering project in Bridgwater? We are partnering with a market-leading subcontractor delivering complex civil infrastructure packages, seeking a Senior or Project QS ready to lead the commercial function on-site.
Role Overview
You will manage all aspects of the commercial function, working closely with the project team to ensure budgets, valuations, procurement, and client communications are effectively delivered. This is a hands-on role offering autonomy and scope to influence project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead commercial activities on site from pre-contract through to final account.
Prepare and submit interim valuations, CVRs, cost reports, and final accounts.
Manage subcontract procurement, negotiations, and relationships.
Monitor budgets, forecasts, and profitability; report to project leadership.
Administer contracts, manage variations, change control, and early warnings (NEC/JCT).
Attend site and client meetings, providing clear commercial advice.
Mentor and support junior QS staff where applicable.
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and internal commercial procedures.
Requirements
Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
5+ years' experience in a main or specialist contractor environment.
Proven experience on civil engineering packages (cut & carve, structural alteration, RC frame, soft strip).
Strong knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Confident managing client-facing responsibilities and leading QS activities.
