We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced QA Engineer to join the delivery team on a construction project in London, with a particular focus on structural steel works. This is a key quality assurance role responsible for ensuring that all construction and steelwork activities meet technical, regulatory, and client standards from fabrication to installation. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in QA/QC processes for steel structures, along with a proactive approach to site-based inspections and compliance documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and implement the project's Quality Assurance procedures for all steel-related works
Monitor and document the quality of fabrication, delivery, and erection of structural steel elements
Carry out inspections and audits in line with project specifications, ITPs, and industry standards (e.g. BS EN 1090)
Maintain up-to-date quality records, including NCRs, material certificates, weld maps, and test reports
Liaise with fabricators, site engineers, and subcontractors to close out quality issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented
Support the delivery team in managing handover documentation and ensuring all works are properly signed off
Assist with client inspections and third-party reviews, ensuring full traceability of steel components
Ensure a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement on site
Qualifications and Experience:
Degree or HNC/HND in Civil, Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
3-5 years' experience in a QA/QC role, ideally within structural steel or large-scale construction
In-depth knowledge of steel fabrication, welding standards, and erection tolerances
Familiarity with UK regulations, Eurocodes, and relevant QA frameworks (BS EN 1090, CE marking, etc.)
Experience with quality systems and inspection documentation
CSCS card essential; additional certifications (e.g. ISO 9001 auditor, welding inspection) are desirable
Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team
