A leading transport planning consultancy is seeking an experienced Principal Transport Planner to join their team in Fleet. This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior professional looking to take a key role in delivering high-profile development projects across the UK.
The role is ideal for someone with substantial experience in transport planning, capable of leading projects, managing client relationships, and mentoring junior staff.
The Role
As a Principal Transport Planner, you will be responsible for leading transport planning assignments from inception to delivery. Your expertise will guide teams on complex development projects, providing strategic transport advice to developers, planning authorities, and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the preparation of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans
Providing expert advice on traffic modelling, junction design, and highway capacity assessments
Managing projects, budgets, and client relationships
Mentoring and developing junior staff and graduates
Producing high-quality reports, technical drawings, and planning submissions
Liaising with clients, local authorities, and multidisciplinary project teams
Candidate Requirements
Significant experience as a transport planner within consultancy, local authority, or development sectors
Strong knowledge of UK transport planning policy and guidance (TfL, DfT, Manual for Streets, NPPF, etc.)
Proficiency in traffic modelling software such as ARCADY, PICADY, LINSIG, VISSIM or similar
Excellent project management, leadership, and client management skills
Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication abilities
Professional membership (MCIHT, CEng, or similar) desirable
