Assistant Civil Design Engineer - South Essex
£30,000 - £35,000 + Bonus + Chartership Support + Flexible Working
Employee-Owned Civil & Structural Consultancy
I'm working with a well-established and highly respected civil engineering consultancy based just outside of London in Essex.
They're looking for an Assistant Civil Design Engineer with a couple of years' experience to join their growing team. It's a fantastic opportunity for someone who's keen to take on more responsibility and progress towards Chartership in a genuinely supportive environment.
The Opportunity
You'll be working on a range of residential and commercial development schemes - producing drainage strategies, levels designs, technical notes and more. You'll also be involved in the technical approval process (S104, S38, S278), with the chance to work closely with experienced engineers and learn fast.
This is the ideal next step if you're looking for more ownership in your work and a clearer route to progression.
Why This Company?
They're known for their high-quality design work and strong, values-driven culture. Unlike many firms, they are an Employee-Owned Trust - putting control of the business directly in the hands of the people who work there. That also means tax-free bonuses on top of your salary.

Around 2+ years of UK consultancy experience
Proficient with AutoCAD and MicroDrainage
Experience in producing drainage and levels strategies
Familiar with approvals processes (S104, S38, S278)
Civil 3D experience is a bonus
Ambitious, proactive, and on the path to Chartership

£30,000 - £35,000 base salary
Performance-related tax-free bonus
Structured support towards Chartership
Paid (pre-agreed) overtime
Flexible/hybrid working

If you're looking to escape the London commute but still want challenging work, real progression, and a great team - this could be your perfect move.
