Working in close partnership with a leading construction business, who is looking for a dedicated Airport Security Coordinator to help manage all aspects of security and access control on site.
This person will play a key role in ensuring our joint project remains fully compliant with airport regulations, from ID pass management and permit control to daily coordination with Heathrow's security teams. It's a vital role that helps keep people, processes, and timelines running smoothly in one of the UK's most high-security environments.
Role and responsibilities:
Managing Access and Passes
Oversees the application and coordination of airport ID passes, ensuring all personnel and subcontractors meet the required background checks and training.
Tracks and manages airside driving permits (ADPs), vehicle passes, and other access-related requirements.
Arranges and delivers site-specific security inductions, with a focus on airside safety and airport protocols.
Liaising with Airport Stakeholders
Acts as the main point of contact between the project team and Heathrow Airport Limited (HAL) Security, including the Security ID Centre.
Attends regular coordination meetings and ensures updates from the airport security teams are communicated effectively to site teams.
Resolves day-to-day access or compliance issues quickly and professionally.
Maintaining Compliance and Security Standards
Supports adherence to all relevant airport security protocols and Department for Transport (DfT) regulations.
Prepares for and assists with security audits, spot checks, and inspections by HAL or regulatory bodies.
Assists with incident reporting, ensuring appropriate follow-up actions are taken.
Keeping Records Organised and Up to Date
Maintains clear, accurate records of all ID pass applications, training records, and permit approvals.
Provides regular updates and reports to the wider project and security teams to support ongoing planning and compliance.
The ideal candidate will have:
Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within an airport or large infrastructure environment.
Strong knowledge of DfT aviation security requirements, and familiarity with Heathrow's access control systems and ID Centre processes.
Excellent organisational skills and a sharp eye for detail, especially around documentation and permit management.
A confident communicator, able to work effectively with construction teams, airport staff, and external security authorities.
Calm under pressure, proactive in resolving issues, and always focused on maintaining a high standard of professionalism.
Must be eligible to pass the necessary background and security clearance checks for work at Heathrow.
